A good credit score does not come from hacks. It comes from proving month after month that you borrow carefully and repay on time.
1. Pay every EMI and card bill before the due date
Payment history is the first thing to fix. Set auto-pay for at least the minimum due, but try to pay the full credit card bill because interest and revolving balances can damage your finances even if the score recovers slowly.
2. Keep credit card usage low
If your card limit is ₹1,00,000 and your bill is ₹80,000 every month, lenders may see you as dependent on credit. A practical target is to keep reported usage much lower and pay before statement generation if you regularly hit high limits.
3. Do not apply everywhere in one week
Every loan or card application can create an enquiry. If you apply to six lenders because one app promised instant approval, you may look desperate for credit even if your income is stable.
4. Check and dispute report errors
Sometimes old closed loans, wrong overdue amounts, or identity errors remain on reports. Download your report, check account status, dates, and overdue amounts, then raise a dispute with the bureau or lender if something is wrong.
